Education and Career

Power Hour~ Power Hour is one hour Monday-Thursday where all members work on homework, study, or get tutored.

Career Launch is a career exploration and mentoring program for middle school members. The program explores careers, identifies training or college requirements, seeks out financial aid and skills-building.

Goals for Graduation introduces 6th-12th grade members to the concept of academic goal setting. The program provides for recognition of members' achievements at every step of the journey.

Goals for Growth introduces 6th-7th grade Club members to the concept of academic goal setting. The program provides for recognition of members' achievements at every step of the journey.

Torch Club (Middle School Leadership)        ~A club for grades 6th-7th. Members elect officers and plan and implement their own activities and community service projects. Each Club receives an official charter from Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

Keystone Club (High School Leadership)     ~A club for grades 8th-12th. Members elect officers, choose their own activities and plan and implement community service projects, A national charter entitles a them to participate in regional and national BGCA Keystone conferences.

Health and Life Skills

The SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) prevention/education program addresses problems such as drug and alcohol use and premature sexual activity.

Stay SMART~ Grades 8th-12th

 Fitness & Nutrition~teaches healthy habits and increase the number of hours they participate in physical activities.

One Economy’s Digital Connectors Program~ identifies talented young people, immerses them in technology training, and helps them build their leadership and workplace skills to enter the 21st century economy. Digital Connectors  learn about career opportunities through site visits to technology companies, job shadowing experiences, and campus tours.

Club Recycle Project

The Mountaineer Boys and Girls Club is becoming more globally minded.  On January 10th the members of our club have started a new recycling project.  Members decorated recylcling bins and created signs around the club encouraging their peers and staff to continue to recycle.
